Trump: Iran Would Be ‘Foolish’ Not to Make a Deal with the US
President Donald Trump said Iran would be “foolish” not to strike a deal with the United States, emphasizing that any agreement must include “no nuclear weapons, no missiles.” In an interview on Fox Business Network’s Kudlow program, Trump noted that past US actions had dismantled parts of Iran’s nuclear program and suggested that future efforts would depend on the outcome of negotiations.
Tehran resumed talks with Washington last week in Oman, as both sides explore a potential path forward. Trump, who authorized US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites during Israel’s 12-day conflict with Iran last June, stressed that any deal must be a “good” one—strong, enforceable, and in America’s interests.
When asked whether a deal with the current Iranian regime could truly hold, Trump acknowledged skepticism, saying many have doubted Iran’s honesty over the years. Still, he said he would prioritize securing a deal that eliminates nuclear weapons, missiles, and other strategic threats, emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive and reliable agreement.
