A group of 25 criminals and militants led by Mirak Khan Chakrani has surrendered to Pakistani authorities in Balochistan, handing over a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition. The group was reportedly involved in multiple incidents of robbery and extortion across the province.
The surrender followed sustained efforts by security forces, with support from Mir Aftab Bugti, brother of Balochistan Chief Minister. Chakrani, a key figure within the group, voluntarily laid down arms and announced his decision to join the Chakrani Peace Force, an initiative aimed at countering extremist elements in the region.
Officials have described the development as a significant achievement under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna, a security campaign focused on eliminating terrorism and organised crime in Balochistan. The operation has targeted militant networks and criminal groups long operating in the province, leading to the arrest and surrender of several high-profile figures.
Security authorities say Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) continue to expand, with more members of extremist factions expected to surrender in the coming weeks. Despite ongoing challenges, officials maintain that these efforts are critical to restoring stability, strengthening law and order, and ensuring lasting peace in Balochistan.
