Global Eyes on Muscat as US and Iran Enter Nuclear Dialogue

Delegations from the United States and Iran have begun indirect nuclear negotiations in Muscat, Oman, with the talks mediated by the Omani government. The discussions focus on Tehran’s nuclear program and are seen as a critical effort to reduce tensions in the region. The meeting comes amid a heightened military presence in the Gulf and repeated warnings from Washington, underscoring the high stakes of this diplomatic engagement.

The Iranian team is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and includes senior diplomatic and economic officials, while the US delegation is headed by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff alongside senior advisor Jared Kushner. The composition of both delegations highlights the importance each side places on these talks, even as longstanding disagreements continue to challenge progress on nuclear and regional security issues.

Oman, known for facilitating past dialogues between Washington and Tehran, is hosting the negotiations, which are drawing close international scrutiny. Several countries, including Türkiye, have offered to mediate, reflecting broad concern over regional stability. Observers note that the outcome of these talks could significantly influence security dynamics in the Middle East, making this a pivotal moment in ongoing US-Iran relations.
