Carrick Pulled from Interview After United’s Stunning Comeback at Arsenal
Michael Carrick’s post-match interview was abruptly halted after Manchester United’s dramatic comeback win over Arsenal, with the United boss summoned for a meeting with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
United completed a thrilling 3–2 victory at the Emirates, dealing a blow to Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes. The hosts struck first just before the half-hour mark when Lisandro Martinez turned the ball into his own net. However, United responded before the break as Bryan Mbeumo punished a costly backpass from Martin Zubimendi to level the score.
Patrick Dorgu then fired United into the lead, only for Mikel Merino to appear to salvage a point for Mikel Arteta’s side with a late equaliser. But the drama wasn’t over. Matheus Cunha produced a sensational strike three minutes from time to seal all three points for the Red Devils.
The win lifts United to fourth in the table and strengthens their push for Champions League qualification. It also marks Carrick’s second win in his first two matches in charge.
Former Premier League forward and broadcaster Jan Åge Fjørtoft revealed that Carrick was pulled away moments before their scheduled interview. Posting on X, he said a Manchester United representative interrupted proceedings to inform him: “Michael, Sir Jim wants to see you.”
