24 Terrorists Killed in Twin Intelligence-Based Operations in KP: ISPR
Twenty-four terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 4 and 5, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were launched after receiving intelligence reports about militant presence in the Orakzai and Khyber districts.
In the first operation in Orakzai, security forces targeted a terrorist hideout and, after an intense exchange of fire, killed 14 militants. ISPR said troops effectively engaged the location during the operation.
A second IBO was carried out in Khyber district, where security forces again came under fire while engaging militants. As a result, 10 more terrorists were neutralised, the statement confirmed.
ISPR said sanitisation operations are ongoing in both districts to eliminate any remaining militants. The military reaffirmed its commitment to continue counterterrorism efforts in coordination with law enforcement agencies.
The operations are part of the broader counterterrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, aimed at eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Earlier, on January 15, security forces had killed 13 terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in separate IBOs in Kurram and Bannu districts.
Last month, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said an unprecedented number of intelligence-based operations were carried out nationwide in 2025, reflecting the state’s resolve to combat terrorism. He said law enforcement agencies conducted 75,175 IBOs during the year — an average of 206 operations per day.
Despite these efforts, Pakistan recorded 5,397 terrorist incidents in 2025, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reporting the highest number, followed by Balochistan. A total of 2,597 terrorists were killed nationwide during the year, he added.
