President Tokayev Meets PM Shehbaz at PM House on First State Visit to Pakistan
Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday, where he was warmly received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A ceremonial contingent of soldiers was present to honour the visiting dignitary.
President Tokayev is in Pakistan on a two-day official visit, marking his first state visit to the country. According to a curtain-raiser issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is expected to provide an important opportunity for both sides to comprehensively review bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.
Discussions will focus on strengthening collaboration in key areas including trade, logistics, regional connectivity, people-to-people exchanges, and coordination at regional and international forums.
The Kazakh president arrived at Nur Khan Airbase on Tuesday, where he was received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet ministers and officials.
In a gesture of goodwill, a six-aircraft squadron of Pakistan Air Force fighter jets escorted President Tokayev’s aircraft and paid an aerial salute upon his entry into Pakistani airspace.
