Protests in Iran spread to 78 cities, 19 people killed, 990 arrested
The human rights monitoring news agency HRANA said in its report that more than 50 protesters have been injured in shooting incidents, while Iranian security forces have arrested 990 people.
According to HRANA, the protests are continuing to spread despite strict security measures and additional deployment of police and other security agencies.
The report said that the ongoing protests in Iran have entered their ninth day, while university students are also actively participating in the protest activities.
HRANA says that in order to reduce the protests, the police and security forces have fired, used tear gas and made large-scale arrests to prevent the scope of the protests from spreading further.
Meanwhile, the government has announced a monthly allowance of $7 to the public for the next 4 months to reduce the pressure of the protests.
On the other hand, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said that the legitimate demands of the protesters must be accepted, adding that the conspiracies of foreign agents will be foiled.
