Trump declares himself interim president of Venezuela, releases new photo
Washington: US President Donald Trump has shared a photo on his social media platform Truth Social in which he has declared himself “Acting President of Venezuela”.
According to the international news agency, the photo shared by Trump, along with his official photo, stated that he has been the interim president of Venezuela since January 2026, while he was also shown as the 45th and 47th president of the United States.
This move comes at a time when the US recently carried out military action in Venezuela, after which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was arrested and transferred to New York, where he has been indicted on serious drug-related charges.
According to US officials, the US will oversee the political transition in Venezuela during the transitional period. Meanwhile, Venezuelan Vice President and Oil Minister Delcy Rodriguez has been sworn in as interim president. President Trump says that the United States will monitor Venezuela’s oil revenues during this interim period so that this money can be used for the benefit of the Venezuelan and American people.
He claimed that Venezuela would provide 30 to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States, which would be sold at market prices.
Trump’s statement and social media post have sparked a new global debate, while there is already a strong reaction to the American role in Venezuela.
